Medical University of Bialystok

The Medical University of Bialystok is a prestigious and distinct centre of excellence and potential. The University staff members offer high standard of teaching and are an opinion- forming milieu in the region.

The ratio of 116 professors and 100 doktor habilitowany degree holders to 786 university teachers is one of the highest and earns the University one of the top places in the tertiary education rankings in Poland.

In July 2012, in the first edition of a contest announced by the Polish Ministry of Higher Education, the Centre for Innovative Research of the Medical University of Bialystok was awarded the status of the Leading National Research Centre 2012-2017 (Krajowy Naukowy Ośrodek Wiodący-KNOW). This prestigious award was granted to only 5 other research centres in Poland.

A total of 4611 students are enrolled in fourteen courses, including 274 students taught in English. The learning opportunities are being constantly enhanced to suit the needs of the continuously developing job market. Our University has two unique courses to offer: Speech Therapy with Phonoaudiology, and Radiography and Medical Imaging (Master's degree level).

The University publishes two academic journals inscribed on the ISI Master Journal List - Advances in Medical Sciences and Progress in Health Sciences. The University staff members are awarded numerous research scholarshipstake part in placements, training courses, and visit the world's best research and teaching centres.

During the 2010/2011 academic year, the University hosted Visiting Professors from the Mayo Clinic, National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Pennsylvania. Thanks to the efficiency in realizing the teaching potential, all the three University Faculties maintain the first category awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The University has at its disposal the state-of- the-art research infrastructure: Centre of Experimental Medicine, Euroregional Pharmacy Centre and Centre of Innovative Research.

Scientific associations and organizations enable students to take part in clinical research and scientific conferences, develop practical skills and broaden specific interests in various fields. UniversityHospital in Bialystok - the major clinical base of the University - is currently being modernized and developed.

The seat of the University is the 18th-century palace located in the heart of the city, in close proximity to the two university hospitals, teaching centres, student residences and sports facilities.
