Tabish Pakistani Norwegian student in Szczecin
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
My name is Tabish and I am 24 years old. My roots are from Pakistan, but I am born and raised in Norway. I am studying Stomatology and it´s my final year at Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin.
What has surprised you in Poland?
First of all, the weather has been surprisingly warmer than I thought. Another thing is, when I first came to Szczecin, everything looked so old school, but during my studies much of the city has been improved. The living cost is way more cheaper than Norway, which is good for us students.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
My older brother was already studying at the Pomeranian University, so the choice came naturally.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
As I mentioned, I already had my brother here, so I didn´t really struggle. Everything became much easier. The only problem was the language difficulties.
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Norway:
The cost! In Norway, most of the educations are for free, while here the tuition fee is high. However, the admission is easier than Norway. Another thing is the way you address the teachers here. You emphasize on their titles, thus giving them respect in that way.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
The student life, and also that you can afford much more (activities, travelling, restaurants etc.).
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
Marie Curie, Lewandowski, Adam Malysz and the former Pope.
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
The place you live in after some time, makes you automatically feel home. So I would say Szczecin has given me some positive influence over time. I have also been to Międzyzdroje, Poznan and Krakow, which I recommend!
Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:
