Spanish student Angela in Gdansk
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
Hi! I'm Ángela and I'm from Spain. I'm 20 and I'm studying my third year of Business and Management Degree in the faculty of Economics in Sopot.
What has surprised you in Poland?
The college environment, the huge number of Erasmus here and the wrong idea that I had from Poland (lot of people speak English, buildings, history,...)
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
When I had to decide where to go in Erasmus some people recommend me Poland besides the fact that I wanted a place completely different from my country, with different weather, culture... and a place located in the middle of Europe to travel around.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
There were bad and good things. On the one hand, the first week was a little bit stressful because I didn't feel comfortable in the dorm so I had to look for a flat. But, on the other hand it was very nice because of the orientation week, we did a lot of activities and met a lot of people!
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Spain:
Marks are about 5 instead of 10, we have to do more essays and presentations here, classes are more interactive, the number of students in every class is less than in Spain too...
What do you like about studying in Poland?
What I liked the most is that in our classes are people from several countries so they are very interesting because we can share different points of view and tell what happen in every country.
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
Juan Pablo II, Nicolas Copernico, Maria Curie
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
Every place that I visit here in Poland has a positive influence on me, but definitely Sopot is the most important to me because I'm spending my Erasmus experience here.
Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:
Australia!! I want to go in the future.
Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:
Actually I'm not in any organization but in Spain I'm in a group similar to ESN.
Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?
Yes, of course I want to come back again because it was an unforgettable experience.
Have you made any permanent relations with polish students? What do you like in most of them?
Not too much, only with my mentor that she is always ready to help me in any problem that I have.
