Sezen Turkish student in Lublin
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
Hi! My name is Sezen. I'm from Istanbul - Turkey. I study Computer Programming in Istanbul. In Poland I'm studying Computer Science in Lublin University of Technology as Erasmus student.
What has surprised you in Poland?
People. They are so friendly and helpful. 2 weeks ago, we missed train from Warsaw to Lublin. A young man helped us to take next train without any other payment so we changed our tickets. Also most people know Turkish people and they're interested in Turkish culture. One last thing, weather is so clean. As I see, people don't get sick much.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
My university in Turkey gave me three choices. Poland, Germany and Lithuania. My teachers and my friends who go countries for Erasmus recommend Poland. Also in Germany school will start in April and I don't want to go there. Poland, especially Lublin is like city of students.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
I was little scared because it was my first time to go out of Turkey. My mentor and my friends help me and I get used to here.
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Turkey:
In Turkey, teachers care about absenteeism and exams but here we just do some projects. It's better and less stressful.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
We feel more comfortable here and also we have fun as much as we want!
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
Chopin and Marie Curie
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
Warsaw. In World War II the city destroyed, but it's great now. Every city has Old Town and I like them. I haven't seen Krakow yet but I know from my friends and pictures it's amazing city! And my second home Lublin is small, quiet and peaceful city.
Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:
The Netherlands, Italy, the nited Kingdom, the United States of America.
Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:
Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?
Of course! I liked Poland and it's like second home for me. I have Polish friends here and I'd like to visit them.
If you run your own business or work anywhere, please tell us something about it (what is it, how many hours weekly do you work, etc.)
I'm not working right now.
