Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)

My name is Sandra, I am 24 years old and I am from Manizales, a city of Colombia (South America). I love dance Latin rhythms like salsa and merengue. I am a master student of Chemical Engineering at National University of Colombia.

What has surprised you in Poland?

In my country we don't have seasons, is green all the year and the average temperature in my city is about 17°C. In this way one of the most surprising and awesome thing for me was the snow, I had never seen it before!!! Another surprising thing was the nice people that I have met, able to help me all the time, especially with the language.

How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?

In my university we have an agreement with Lodz University of Technology; additionally I work with a Polish professor who is living in Colombia. She told me about the opportunity to come here, to her city: Łodz, and we did all the procedures that were needed.

Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:

I think the language was a struggle at the beginning but I have received so many help that right now I feel confident and can do some things using the few words in Polish I have learned.

Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Colombia:

In my case, I don't take lectures in the university, what I do is experimental work. In that sense I think here you have a very organized schedule and you have all what is needed. People at laboratory is always willing to teach me and give me fantastic ideas about what can I do.

What do you like about studying in Poland?

I like that you always have very good ideas and are prepared to put them in practice.

Do you know any famous people from Poland?

I have heard about Adam Małysz, a famous ski jumper. And Marie Curie with her Nobel Price. And I return to you the question; do you know famous people from Colombia? Maybe Juanes, Shakira or Gabriel García Márquez? :D

Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:

Of course Łodz, where I am spending the major part of my time, with the nice people I have met, the white snow and great buildings and sculptures they have.

Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:

Canada is the country I absolutely want to visit.

Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:

Not by the moment.

Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?

I am coming back to Colombia 29th May, but of course I really would like to come back to Poland in a near future.
