Russian student and his time in Gdansk
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
My name is Leonid and I live in Poland for 6 years. I came from Omsk (Russia). I study international economic relations, foreign trade specialty on University of Gdańsk.
What has surprised you in Poland?
The first thing that surprised me was the name "salon urody" (beauty parlour), because the word 'urody' stands for 'ugly' in Russian.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
I used to live and study here at high school, so I've decided to stay here.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through?
It was unpleasant for me, that everyone asked, where is better, here (Poland) or there (Russia), over and over again.
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in your motherland?
In Russia you study from dawn till dusk, like in high school. The bachelors degree takes 4 years and they teach you unnecessary stuff.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
Non-standarized classes schedule. Moreover I did not encounter humiliation from lecturers.

Leszek Czarnecki, Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Nicolaus Copernicus, F. Chopin.
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
Sopot - city for studying and relaxation, sea and hills.
