Who are you? Short bios. (where do you come from, where do you study? In which faculty, bachelor degree or master degree?)
I am Páll from Iceland. I am 36 years old and study for a B.A. in German Philology. I studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
What has surprised you in Poland?
A. Polish openness of emotion. B. I expected them to drink more but find that many people drink little or not at all.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
I am very keen on Slavic languages and culture. I wanted to go abroad and try to master a Slavic language and thought about Poland and Slovakia. I chose Poland for 3 reasons: A. It´s cheaper. B. It has more prestigious universities. C.I had already traveled around Slovakia for 2 weeks. In Poland i had only been to Warsaw and Cracow.
Do remember the early days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through.
I remember being in a hostel on Florianska and was gently woken up by the sound of Hejnał. I haven't really struggled here. I had some problems with finding German courses but it wasn't so serious.
What's the difference between studies in Poland and studies in Iceland?
I only see that classes here are bigger. The only popular language in Iceland is english but very few people study other languages. Here plenty of people study german and probably spanish and french and other languages.
