Nicolo from Italy and his time in Bydgoszcz
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
Cześć!! My name is Nicolò, I'm 21 years old! I'm from Włochy (Italy!), Genoa . I study physiotherapy! Now I'm in Poland for Erasmus Program and i'm studying at the Collegium Medicum of Bydgoszcz.
What has surprised you in Poland?
The love of Polish people for their country! Loving its own country is a great quality in my opinion! Then it was the food that surprised me the most, like "pierogi". I also liked their nice language (but this is very difficult to speak it for me!)
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
I had been in Poland on holiday and I liked this country! I visited Warzawa and Krakow! When I had the chance to choose this destination I did it!
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
During the first days of study I went to the Hospital for the clinical practice and I was very surprised by the welcome and the availability of the staff... This helped me to settle in Poland!
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Italy:
In Poland professors are younger than in Italy, this is great! In Italy professors are often old men with a lot of experience but they don't feel like teaching...and they negate the opportunity to teach to other younger people. In the Collegium Medicum of Bydgoszcz doctors and the physiotherapists explain us in a very friendly way.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
Here in the CM of Bydgoszcz there are a lot of students, but in the hospital department there are only 3-4 students for each tutor..this is a good thing to have a better relationship.
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
Obviously! I know Chopin, Lech Wałęsa, the pope Wojtiła, Mikołaj Kopernik (Mikołaj like my name) and the sport man Kubica, Lewandowski and Boniek (he was born in Bydgoszcz).
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
In Poland the room is larger than in Italy..When I travelled by train I ve seen boundless landscapes.. this kind of landscapes help you to think, and they are great for photographers! And I like the cold weather of this land,it is a new discovery for me.
Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:
I want to visit the states of north-est of Europe like Poland.. I want to visit the Scandinavian states and the Baltic area.
Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:
Yes I am! I'm a member of Casetta Club.. It's something like a student's organization.. This club is in Italy, near Genoa..Members go to the club to have parties together..and sometime to study!
Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?
Yes I would! I want to come back to Poland in the future to visit the cities that I won't visit during the Erasmus and to meet my polish friends!
