Narmin from Azerbaijan in Wrocław

Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)

Hi :) My name is Narmin and I'm from Azerbaijan. At present I'm studying Bachelor Degree in International Business Economics at the Wroclaw University of Economics!

What has surprised you in Poland?

Well, first of all people! I've never considered Polish people to be so kind and friendly. I mean they are so helpful and hospitable. The second, one of the most important features, is food. Polish cuisine is also great! Different types of sausages, cheese, chocolates are soooo delicious!

How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?

Actually, I did not have any idea, at first that I'll study in Poland. It happened suddenly. I was studying in South Korea as an exchange student, and have seen on Facebook the advertisement of the University and have decided to deal with the International Office. So, that after several steps I was accepted, and now I'm happy to be and to study in Wroclaw!

Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:

Yeah! I do, I guess the first days for all the foreigners are very difficult. Different society, language, new group mates-all that make the life very hard but after everything getting better :)

Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Azerbaijan

Well, the education system is totally different. In Azerbaijan the lectures and workshops do not have the same structure as in Poland. I like that we can experience everything that we've learned during lectures, so that makes the studies interesting.

What do you like about studying in Poland?

I like the educational system. Maybe it is a bit difficult but I know for sure that as a result all that difficulties will bring out us as real professionals in specific area of studies. Professors are also very kind. I have great group mates, that always very helpful and friendly.

Do you know any famous people from Poland?

I'm a huge Chopin fan. He is my favorite composer! Also I know Nicolaus Copernicus, Maria Curie.

Describe the places in Poland that have a positive influence on you:

As I live in Wroclaw I love the architecture most. All historical buildings are amazing! And the place that I love the most of all called Rynek that is the heart of Wroclaw.

Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:

I would like to visit Italy, Spain and Portugal. I've heard that they are very close to Azerbaijani people as they are very emotional and friendly people!

Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:

Unfortunately, I'm not, but I'm planning to join Aiesec

Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?

Yeah, I would like, maybe after getting Master degree I'll be back to launch my own business :)

If you run your own business or work anywhere, please tell us something about it (what is it, how many hours weekly do you work, etc.)

I'm planning to start with a small grocery shop, but I'm not sure still what kind of grocery shop it is going to be. For that I should make an industry analysis and prepare business plan, so I hope one day I'll be able to realize it :) I'm very grateful to you for taking the time to interview me :)
