Italian student in Gdansk
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
My name is Stefania I come from Italy, where i study in the faculty of foreign languages and literatures I speak english and spanish, but I would like to learn arabic or russian. I study in the University of Gdansk.
What has surprised you in Poland?
I think that the weather has suprised me the most. I used to think that there were more cold days, but now I know that it depends on the year.
How did you come up with the idea of studying in Poland?
Because it's a country in developing and I thought that the university is good moreover. It is totally different from Italy.
Do you remember the first days of studying in Poland? Describe the struggles you went through:
The first days were awful: I was in a terrible dormitory and I was alone in the room. Moreover I felt very much this distance between my family and friends.
Tell us about the differences between studies in Poland and studies in Italy:
In Italy we generally do not speak during the classes. Unfortunately the lectures are in Italian and not in English. The exams are generally oral in Italy.
What do you like about studying in Poland?
I like that we are forced to speak during the class. We can have own opinion.
Do you know any famous people from Poland?
I know the nobel prize Marie Curie, The Philosopher Schopenhauer, The first director Roman Polanski, and the Pope Carol Wojtyła.
Describe the places in Poland, that have a positive influence on you:
I've only visited Gdansk, but my favourite place is Oliwa Park it makes me more relaxed since I can sit on a bench reading a book and enjoying the sun.
Tell us about the country you've always wanted to visit, but still haven't:
I've always wanted to visit Brazil in particular Rio de Janerio. Because of the rainforest the beach. I would like to go during the Carnival.
Are you a member of any student's club or organization? Tell us something about it:
No, I'm not, I generally don't have time
Would you like to come back to Poland in the future? Why?
I would like to come back during the summer (better temperature) and visit Cracow, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Gdansk to see the differences between winter and summer.
