Dorien from Belgium decides to study in Warsaw
Who are you? Briefly describe yourself (where do you come from, what do you study, etc.)
I'm Dorien , from Antwerp (Belgium). I'm 20 years old. I study Social & Economical Sciences, a mixture between Social & Political Sciences and Economical Sciences at the University of Antwerp. Next year I will start my 3th year. I will study at University of Warsaw.
What's your family, friends opinion about your studies in Poland?
Almost everybody asks me: "Poland? But.. Why?? Why don't you go to Spain or France?" But a lot of my friends think it's nice that I choose a different destination, I'm one of the few students that will be studying in Eastern Europe. I think most people have a wrong image about Poland and I will prove them wrong! ;)
Tell us about inspiration about studies in Poland.
It's something different than Spain or France, and I like discovering things and countries that are less convenient. I did a trip by InterRail (you travel by train for 3 weeks) and I saw a lot of Eastern Europese cities, but due to a lack of time, we couldn't make it to Poland. And I wanted to go to a country that represents more than just good weather or delicious food.. I wanted to go to a country that has a story, a history of its own. Poland intrigues me, because although everybody has a merely negative image of the country, it's a country that's growing. And it's growing faster than we know, I think.
